The Effect of Aluminum Dihydrogen Phosphate Liquid on the Production of Alumina Foam Ceramics

Aluminum dihydrogen phosphate solution plays three major roles in the production of alumina foam ceramics:

( 1 ) As a binder, when the density of aluminum dihydrogen phosphate is 1.35g/cm3, the slurry has good viscosity and thixotropy. At the same time, with the increase of aluminum dihydrogen phosphate solution content, the size of sponge mesh becomes smaller ( the larger the mesh value is ).

( 2 ) The higher the concentration of aluminum dihydrogen phosphate solution, the higher the strength of the dried green body, but the easier the green body regain. On the contrary, the lower the concentration of aluminum dihydrogen phosphate solution, the lower the strength of the dried green body, but it is not easy to regain.

( 3 ) After sintering at 1180 ℃, aluminum dihydrogen phosphate is converted into aluminum phosphate, which makes the product have certain strength. Alumina foam ceramic products mainly exhibit corundum, AlPO4 triclinic and a small amount of Shi Ying crystal phases. The strength of the products is mainly provided by the bonding force between aluminum phosphate Al-O-P-O-Al generated by aluminum dihydrogen phosphate at high temperature, and the strength of the products is not high. Therefore, it is suggested that the sintering temperature should be raised above 1250 ℃ to produce high strength mullite crystal phase to improve the product strength.
